I haven’t tried the macppc install…but have you checked out the
macppc mailing list?

at https://cdn.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-8.1/macppc/INSTALL.html
burning NetBSD-8.1-macppc.iso to a disc, entering Open Firmware, and
attempting to boot with “boot cd:,\ofwboot.xcf netbsd.macppc” per
the instructions.
The installation immediately halts with:

What am I doing wrong? This is my first initial exposure to NetBSD,
and I expected I would have to do more work to install and run NetBSD
but did not expect to hit a wall right at the first step of the
installation process.
