I believe the NetBSD installer uses standard useradd. Even login.conf mentions: #default:\ # :path=/usr/bin /bin /usr/sbin /sbin /usr/X11R7/bin /usr/pkg/bin /usr/pkg/sbin /usr/local/bin:\ We haven't heard from the OP.
