Hello,
I'm considering purchasing a TP-Link TL-WN725N USB WiFi adapter for use
with NetBSD, but I have a compatibility question.
According to the urtwn(4) manual page, "TP-LINK TL-WN725N v2" is
explicitly listed as supported. However, the version currently available
for purchase (Amazon Japan, ASIN: B008IFXQFU) appears to be v3, which is
not mentioned in the manual.
From various sources, both v2 and v3 seem to use the RTL8188EUS
chipset, but I understand there can be subtle hardware or firmware
differences between revisions that may affect driver compatibility.
My questions are:
1. Has anyone successfully used TL-WN725N v3 with NetBSD?
2. Is v3 expected to work with the current urtwn(4) driver, or are there
known issues?
3. Would it be safer to look specifically for v2, or are there
alternative USB WiFi adapters you would recommend for reliable NetBSD
support?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Konoha
Hello,
I did buy TP-LINK TL-WN725N months ago for my raspberrypiZeroW cause of
internal WIFI bwfm driver inestabilities. Things were better with urtwn
but some problems left unsolved:

I do knot know it is v2 or v3. Have to investigate it at home, now I am
at work.
Months ago I configured a WIFI repeater as an access point near the
RPiZeroW with fixed channel and returned to bwfm internal chip. Seems
not too bad. I do not know if my bad experience is caused by my router,
but my router works fine with another RPiZeroW that uses RaspberrypiOS
and never losses network connection.
Regards.
