Tempo the electrical retailer (similar to Dixons) have teamed up with
LocalTel/Screaming.net to offer unmetered off-peak (ie after 6pm in the
evenings & weekends) access to the internet through their own ISP
screaming.net.
The catch is that you have to change from BT (it has to be a BT line)to
LocalTel(and a 12 month contract). Effectively LocalTel takes over the
line - you only pay one bill (to Localtel) unlike resellers like Euphony
& C&W where you still have to pay line rental to BT.
However the service still uses your existing BT number, line & network -
the only difference being that you pay your bill to Localtel & you have
Unmetered off peak access to the internet via screaming nets 0845 no.
(so it is available nationally)
To signup you need to collect a CD from Tempo - but seeing as there are
hardly any no stores north of Leicester you may have a problem.

Apparently they use Colt as their backbone and Teleglobe to connect to
the US, both excellent.
