Hi Eric, increasing the snmptimeout from 2 sec. to just 3 sec. in the
netdisco deployment.yml solved the problem! Now the modules are
showing back again fine. Thank you!

For these nodes perform a search by mac with the archive option selected to see what other switch port(s) matches show up in the list. Most likely an uplink should be in the list. If so:

1) Does each end of the uplink show the opposing neighbour, or does only one side? 2) Is the uplink using a L2 discovery protocol (CDP, LLDP, etc) or a manual topology entry? 3) Is the uplink part of a port-channel or some other link aggregation protocol?

Is this behaviour limited to a specific vendor or model?

What version of netdisco are you running?

Hi Eric,

When I visited the particular device once more, I noticed that now there are different nodes not showing up!

See: http://iweb.noa.gr/files/nd2/no_arch_data_20140523a.png

and:  http://iweb.noa.gr/files/nd2/with_arch_data_20140523a.png

Now affected ports (showing as "up", but without nodes) are: 2, 3, 6, 9, 10, 14, 15, 17, 20

Doing a search as you advised for the MAC addresses of nodes connected on ports 2, 3, 6, I get the following results:

http://iweb.noa.gr/files/nd2/fa02-node.png
http://iweb.noa.gr/files/nd2/fa03-node.png
http://iweb.noa.gr/files/nd2/fa06-node.png

To answer you questions:

1. I don't see uplinks in the search results.
2. We are generally using CDP
3. No link aggregation or port-channel used.

Almost all our switches are Cisco 2950 / 2960 (various types with/without optical interfaces) and a couple of SRW2024-K9. I see the behaviour on all.

We are running latest netdisco (2.027004) with SNMP::Info 3.13.

Best regards,
Nick

the header is not there, so it's apache.

But with some trial and error I got the X-REMOTE_USER to work

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{LA-U:REMOTE_USER} (.+)
    RewriteRule . - [E=RU:%1]
    RequestHeader unset X-REMOTE_USER
    RequestHeader add X-REMOTE_USER %{RU}e

So after the 401 popup to enter user/password, I am automatically logged in
netdisco and I see my username in the "logged in as" space. But if i try to
use any of the links I get a Not Found from apache which is redirecting me
to he /login url.

I clicked on the port utilization report and got redirected to:
netdisco.domain.tld/login?return_url=%2Freport%2Fportutilization

for instance, when on the home site I do a mouse over 'System information'
the link under it is : http://netdisco.unix.domain.tld:5000/# . Behind the
proxy, it becomes:
https://netdisco.domain.tld/login?return_url=%252Finventory#

so I am having some troubles with the reverse proxy I do not seem to be
able to resolve on my own. Tips welcome ;-)

TIA,

I added

log: debug

to environment.yml and I see this in netdisco-web.log

[5836] debug @0.521952> No such user xxxx
[5836] debug @0.524081> No such user xxxx
[5835] debug @0.439999> No such user xxxx
[5837] debug @0.477245> No such user xxxx

[5837] debug @0.523004> No such user xxxx
[5837] debug @0.525105> No such user xxxx

so the x-remote-user is being set but not used, it seems. That's why it is
redirecting to the login url.

hi,

maybe useful to someone else. We use very simple init scripts in our centos
6.5:

/etc/init.d/netdisco-daemon

#!/bin/sh
#
# netdisco - this script starts and stops netdisco-daemon
#
# chkconfig:   2345 85 15
# description:

# Source function library.
. /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions

# Source networking configuration.
. /etc/sysconfig/network

# Check that networking is up.
[ "$NETWORKING" = "no" ] && exit 0

NETDISCO_DIR="/opt/netdisco"
NETDISCO_USER=netdisco
NETDISCO_DAEMON="$NETDISCO_DIR/bin/netdisco-daemon"

start() {
    echo -n $"Starting netdisco daemon: "
    /bin/su - $NETDISCO_USER -c "$NETDISCO_DAEMON start"
    retval=$?
    if [ $retval -eq 0 ]; then
        success "netdisco daemon started"
    else
        failure $"Unable to start"
    fi
    echo
    return $retval
}

stop() {
    echo -n $"Stopping netdisco daemon: "
    /bin/su - $NETDISCO_USER -c "$NETDISCO_DAEMON stop"
    retval=$?
    if [ $retval -eq 0 ] ; then
        echo "$NETDISCO_DAEMON stopped"
        return $retval
    fi
}

restart() {

        echo $"Usage: $0 {start|stop|restart}"

and this for the web interface:
