I've been searching but I cannot find anything.Sorry if it sounds like a newbie question, but I've only patched small scripts and no compilation was involved, never touched something written in Perl as large as Netdisco.regards

--- Begin Message ---Hi, I am new to NetDisco and am not sure if there is a VM ready for use that can used for quick deployment. If this is not available, can Netdisco be installed on Linux machine? Please also provide me the URL for downloading the Netdisco version 2 and also the installation guide. I could only find version 1.3.3 on the sourceforge page for Netdisco. Regards, Ahmer

--- Begin Message ---Hello, I installed a new netdisco 2.027007 and integrated the App-NetdiscoX-Web-Plugin-RANCID-2.003002. Generally, it works, I just have the situation that my rancid-devices are listed without fqdn, but netdisco does recognize them with fqdn. So the link that is provided by the plugin points to http://rancidurl/hostname.domain, but my rancid config is under http://rancidurl/hostname I also have some devices, that are only accessible by IP, name resolution does not work there. Is there a way to modify the url that the plugin sets here? Thanks and regards Mana ________________________________ Rapunzel Naturkost GmbH, Rapunzelstra?e 1, D-87764 Legau Registergericht Memmingen HRB 14736 | Sitz der Gesellschaft: Legau Ust Id Nr. --- Begin Message ---Good afternoon, I'm new to netdisco, and I'm running into an issue that I think is probably simple to resolve, but I'm not sure how to proceed. I installed netdisco 2.027007 on a CentOS 6.4 server, which went fine. Given one of the core routers, it detected most of our Cisco routers and switches, but that's where it stops, and where I get a little bit confused. Most of our servers are in dell chassis, so they're connected to a switch in the chassis (a Dell PowerConnect M6220, in most cases), which is uplinked to one of the core routers. When I discover a server manually, it collects all the proper information, but doesn't pick up the Dell switch it's connected to. Then, when I manually discover the Dell switch, it collects all the information about the switch, and on the "Neighbors" map, it shows that it's connected to the router. The "Ports" page shows the router in the "Connected Devices" column with a little link symbol. Awesome. Finally, when I view the "Ports" list for the router, though, the Dell switch is nowhere to be found, and it's not on the "Neighbors" map. So that's confusing, but it gets a little bit more frustrating. On the "Ports" page of the Dell switch, under "Connected Devices", for each port it lists the MAC address, the hostname and the IP of the server that's connected to that port, but it never ran a discovery on those servers, so they don't exist as devices within netdisco. If I discover them manually, it doesn't create any kind of link between the Dell and the server. (Though clicking on the IP will do a search for the ip, which turns up the correct device, but it's not really a "link" as far as I can tell.) My guess is that I need to make some configuration changes to netdisco to get it to treat the Dell as a router or a switch instead of a node, but I don't really understand how netdisco works, and I'm having trouble finding documentation on version 2 specifically, so I'm hoping someone can make sense of my rambling and point me in the right direction. --- Begin Message ---Hi Patrick, On 2014-06-26 22:15, Patrick Gillan wrote:I'm new to netdisco, and I'm running into an issue that I think is probably simple to resolve, but I'm not sure how to proceed. Thanks for using Netdisco and the mail list. There's also an #IRC channel if you use that - #netdisco on freenode. The "Ports" page shows the router in the "Connected Devices" column with a little link symbol. Awesome. Finally, when I view the "Ports" list for the router, though, the Dell switch is nowhere to be found, and it's not on the "Neighbors" map. That could be a bug, as there shouldn't normally be asymmetric links in the web view. We'll come back to this.On the "Ports" page of the Dell switch, under "Connected Devices", for each port it lists the MAC address, the hostname and the IP of the serverthat's connected to that port, but it never ran a discovery on thoseservers, so they don't exist as devices within netdisco. If I discover them manually, it doesn't create any kind of link between the Dell and theserver.I think there's a misunderstanding of terminology here. Switches and routers are Devices. Servers, workstations, printers, etc, are Nodes. You can't drill down into a Node in the web UI as they're the 'leaf', so simply appear attached to the relevant switch port(s). There's no link symbol to a Node. For the bug, if you can tolerate it for a little time I'd appreciate you waiting for the next release of Netdisco which has a few fixes in this area. Hope that's OK.regards, oliver.

--- Begin Message ---Hello, I'm new at netdisco and have a question..... Is it possible to implement a script to get the needed information from a switch, router or firewall? Background is, I found a lot of systems I couldn't get the MAC address table with snmp, but with scripts over ssh or telnet. It could use the same technique rancid use (expect).
