Hello,
I have some trouble discovering some SNMPv3 Devices with netdisco. If I run a
discover with the debug option the message (corresponding to the correct
community) is “Authentication failure (incorrect password, community or key)
(The supplied password length is too short.)”. I sniffered the connection with
Wireshark. The discovery process seems to work but the following snmp request
is send without privacy parameters and an authentication error “Authentication:
Failed calculated”.
When I update the “snmp_auth_tag_read” column in the community table for that
device manually (from NULL to the right one) it works fine but at some point
the entry is overwritten with NULL and the discovery fails again.
I have no clue what to do…. except writing a script that updates the community
table regularly 😉
