   1. Re: Discover the first Meraki Switch Model MS-210 (Michael Butash)
--- Begin Message ---
I haven't looked at a MS switch, but in general, looking at Meraki MX and
MR are terrible for any traditional monitoring. Their snmp capabilities
are (purposefully) crippled to hide much of any real usable metrics outside
if IFMIB status and sysinfo, so mostly useless to netdisco or any
SNMP-based tools. Cisco/Meraki is pushing everyone to use API mostly, and
hiding real performance behind composite metrics for "total utilization",
so is a whole other bag of worms.

I've already given up on Meraki, cursed their names, and the poor bastard
customer I have for using them. Funny part is the customer pays the long
LONG dollar for HP NNM, and can't even pay HP enough to figure out what to
do with meraki, leaving them largely blind to their 1200 store retail
chain. Thank Cisco for hobbling a perfectly normal linux box to hide
performance metrics and topology data so you never know when your box will
tip over! Sadly I know as even their largest mx router tips over under
load at less than 10% of reported vpn/throughput capacity, and I don't
usually know until the noc starts blowing up.

I told the customer if they want proper reporting to get some real network
kit, not this cisco-lite crap.
