   1. Bit of plugin advise required (Koen Dooms)
--- Begin Message ---
Hi,

I've got this idea to create a plugin, but am looking for some advise
before diving head first in it.

I like the feature to update interface descriptions, i.e. port names in
NetDisco speak, but I'd like to enhance the interface a bit.
We use a fixed format to populate the interface description, composed of a
number of fields with separators in between.
So I'd like to create a popup dialog, similar to the port bounce reason
popup, where I have a few fields listed to fill in that are then
concatenated using a separator upon submission.

I'd like to keep the click in the name cell that allows direct editing as
it does by default.
However I'd like the action when clicking the edit icon to popup that
dialog with fields to update.

So, should it be possible to override the default click action and have it
perform another action?
If so where would I start.

PS.
I'm not a programmer by trade, but like a bit of a challenge and do
understand that one needs .pm, .tt, .css and ,js files to make a proper
NetdiscoX plugin.
Aside from Oliver's NetdiscoX plugins there are not many to go by and learn
from.

Koen
