Bug #1648: Error when adding backbone cable strand
https://osl.uoregon.edu/redmine/issues/1648
Author: Dominik Eismann
Status: Resolved
Priority: Normal
Assignee: Carlos Vicente
Category: CablePlant
Target version: 1.0.1-RC3
Resolution: fixed
In 1.0.1-RC1 or RC2, when adding a backbone cable with strands or trying to add
strands to an already existing cable, I get the error quoted below. The problem
occured on a fresh install of 1.0.1-RC1 on Ubuntu 12.04 an persisted after
upgrading to RC2.
Nonetheless, thanks for sharing this great software with us!

I had a quick look through the upgrade script and didn't spot anything. There
is some code in there that is attempting to prevent duplicates.

Issue #1651 has been updated by Alexandros Tsourakis.
Hey,
Unfortunately I can't test or check any logs because in the meantime I did a
clean install of Netdot and re-inserted all the devices.
I had no similar issues with the new one so it seems that indeed something went
wrong with the upgrade. It did have some errors about duplicates but after
removing those the upgrade *seemed* to have completed with no issues. As I said
though I am not able to check now, so from my side this issue is closed.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers, Alex.

If I manually add an interface with the same number (in this example 10501) and
then rescan the device it completes just fine and ignores the fact that it
can't get a 'physaddr' for this interface.
Cheers, Alex.
