I have a page in my Project that compiles fine with no errors. But I notice the
corresponding .ser file is not being created for this page at compile time.
(Actually what it does when I compile the page is BLOW AWAY the .ser file that
existed before I compiled, and doesn't bother creating a new one)
So then when I try to run the Project, I get a generic Error page something
about "can't connet to App server". (see Log errors at the bottom of this note).
I then tried:
1. Clearing the cache, manually via Command Center. Still no .ser file is
created for that page.
2. Deleting the .class file (outside of Studio in Windows Explorer) and
recompiling in Studio. Still it won't create the .ser file.
3. So then I closed the project from Studio. And tried running my project (via
its URL in the browser). Sure enough it ran fine. And when I chk Windows
Explorer I see the .ser file has now been created. (Though, I wasn't sure
exactly what action caused the .ser file to be generated--closing Studio, or
running the Project. Anybody know?)
Since I'm ready to move this project to production (from an NT box to an HP-UX
box)...I'm a little nervous about whether this .ser file problem will start
acting up on prod.
Can anyone set my mind at ease?
Do you think things are OK now that I have a .ser file?
When I move the files to prod shoudl I not move any .ser files over? If so, when
does ND created them? When the cache is cleared, or when the project is first
run?
BTW: the changes I was making to the page just b4 it started acting up, were
VERY minor--nothing that would have caused any errors. Also, this particular
project has been plagued with this .ser problem for a few months now. (I've
posted about it but back then it was my co-workers prob. Now it's mine!)
