I was having a problem with iptables under mandrake 8.1 and although you would think it would be in FAQ somewhere i obviously wasn't looking in the right ones.
The problem consisted of after compiling iptable 1.2.5 under Mandrake 8.1 and recompiliing my kernel to 2.4.17(i figured since i was compiling why not recompile everything) my iptables gave the following error message iptables: iptables v1.2.2: can't initialize iptables table `filter': Module is wrong version iptables: Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. so for anyone who has had a similar problem here is how i fixed. Remember this is just for manddrake 8.1. I replaced the similar lines at the top of my makefile with the following ones. LIBDIR:=/lib BINDIR:=/sbin MANDIR:=/usr/share/man INCDIR:=/usr/include That will ensure everything gets copied to the right places on your Mandrake box. My thanks to the Local LUG who helped me through it. I hope this might help someone in the future. -- ============================================== Gary Townsend Database Developer / Internet Services Administrator Spatial Mapping Ltd. 484 2nd Avenue Prince George, BC, Canada V2L 2Z7 http://www.spatialmapping.com email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] phone: 250 564 1928 fax: 250 564 0751 ==============================================
