Now I see what you said and it returns 2.4.7-10 and there is a file
iptables.o in that folder.

It looks like it is best to run IPTables as a module at least that way I do
not have to compile the kernel for IPTables updates.  Is that true ?

As best as I can tell I have v 1.2.3.  I read somewhere that that version is
buggy.  I am having problems but I would prefer to first get to a good
version state before I attack problems.  Should I upgrade ?

So then what do you think from the info I gave ?
