Hello all,
yesterday (6th of Jan) I compiled a 2.4.17 with iptables 1.2.5 over a 1.2.4 rpm
version on my Mandrake 8.1.
I installed the 1.2.5 with the default settings in the Makefile and thought
that it will overlap /sbin/iptables.
I didn't get the result I wanted, so I erased the 1.2.4 binary
removing the startup scripts from my rc.d. dirs. My bad - I should take care of
it in advance, but at 1.30 a.m. I was very tired and confused.
Tried with chkconfig - not happy. It didn't tell netfilter to apply the rules
in /etc/sysconfig/iptables.Rules were set to the default ACCEPT policy, as the
script didn't contain any pointers to /etc/sysconfig
Can someone tell me what the startup scripts (in rcX.d and /etc/rc.d/init.d/)
should contain so that everything goes back to previous state?
Regards,
Dimitar
