Hi,
I am looking for either a "Cookbook" link or someone on this list to outline the steps
and components needed to bring up a RH 7.2 (Kernel 2.4.9-31 system as a basic firewall.
I have been going around in circles with HOW-TO's and I can't seem to find the
"NEWBIE" guide on HOW-TO install or configure a basic firewall.
I have been finding lots of old suff for ipchains and kernel 2.2 and the newer iptable
information seems to be assuming that you already know what you are doing.
This is my first attempt at a firewall and I am new to using Linux!
To start my basic firewall objectives are:
1. To allow all outbound traffic with logging.
2. To allow all inbound traffic with logging with the following exceptions:
To block or prevent access to ICMP, SYN attacks, DoS
attacks, Port Scans, SNMP attacks and any other "bad guy" holes!.
Thanks,
Bryan Goodwin
