Hi,

I'd like to know if anybody already came up with the
idea of building a tool to easy the configuration of
 netfilter/iptables rules ?

Possibly 'cursed' or even 'graphical', where the latest
could run in a machine not necessarily the router/fw/filter
itself, but upload the configuration to the target machine.

If anybody is working on it let me know. Otherwise, I'd like
to know the feeling of the community about it. Obviously, the
sysadms/unix gurus need it not. I am thinking of the newbies
(much like me) that have incipient knowledge about iptables, but
do not want to spent too much time collecting recepies in the list.

If I receive a 'go for it', I'm planning to give it a shoot.
So far, I am thinking to start with a python/tk script that
provides a user interface and info hooks to a series of basic
 configuration templates/profiles.

I'm all years for suggestions, if this is considered off-topic or
cause too much traffic congestion in the list, then I'll set up a
 sourceforge page for the project.

 best regards,
 senra
