I suppose I could have asked the question more specifically: A more logical (paranoid) approach from my side, would be to open up tcp from ports 2 & 3 for just this server. Especially because that's my main FTP download server. Then I wouldn't have to open up high ports on a blanket basis. Especially because I don't have them open for any other of a myriad of services. So, are there many FTP servers who demand that ports 2 & 3 are open for FTP LS?
