How to close an specific port

Hi,

        I'm new in iptables, and don't understanding very well, I will want to make a port of my PC unreachable from Internet, I know that is possible to do with a default policy and make it explicity, I will want to know if anybody could help me with this, and maybe recommend me a good iptables documentation, tutorial, examples, ....
