1: Mailing lists are better than news groups. If you budget for a larger
hard disk (minimum 20 GB), you can cope with a few of them;

2: Why are mailing lists better than news groups? Because you can use
what you have on your hard disk - or in the Internet mail archives - as
a reference for what has been going on for the last few months (if
there's nothing of interest on your hard disk any more, you delete the
old mails). Moreover, if you have modem access to the Internet and
aren't a heir to a million, newsgroups cost as much as streaky pig meat
(nyhendegruppar kostar flesk :). News group items (BIND, no.alt.katter,
is.ymislegt), etc., disappear all too soon, with no archives;

3: Just be glad you're not subscribed to OpenOffice.org - the World's
answer to Microsoft's MSOffice and very popular at the moment - for
which your 20 GB hard disk would have to become a 40 GB hard disk.

Best, off tpic, sorry,

Tonni
