What sound card and what version of NM -- do you have the latest drivers for
the sound card?
It sounds like a non functional Direct Sound implementation may be your
problem -- I would try the latest sound drivers for your card to see if
problem goes away - if not ( or maybe if you just want to test) turn of
direct sound -- http://www.netmeeting-zone.com/nmse.asp has a utility for
2.1 - in V 3 it is usually off by default but at the audio options tab has a
checkbox to turn it off or on)
