NetMeeting 3.0 Backward Compatibility. This section discusses backward
compatibility between NetMeeting 3.0 and earlier versions of NetMeeting.
NetMeeting 1.0 - NetMeeting 3.0 is not compatible with NetMeeting 1.0.
NetMeeting 2.0 and 2.1 - NetMeeting 3.0 is compatible with NetMeeting 2.0,
NetMeeting 2.1, and NetMeeting 2.11.
Audio and video - Audio and video switching was removed in NetMeeting 3.0.
If you are in a meeting where some participants are using an earlier version
of NetMeeting, audio switching does not work. When a client using an
earlier version of NetMeeting stops sending audio and video to a person
using NetMeeting 3.0, audio and video cannot be restarted.
Program Sharing
The following features were removed from NetMeeting 3.0 and do not work
during conferences where people are using both NetMeeting 3.0 and earlier
versions:
? Desktop Scrolling does not work in NetMeeting 3.0. Instead, programs
are displayed in a window with a scroll bar.
? Clipboard contents are not shared between NetMeeting 3.0 and earlier
versions. The clipboard feature was removed from NetMeeting 3.0.
? People using an earlier version of NetMeeting cannot take control of
programs that are shared by NetMeeting 3.0 clients.
The following features are new to NetMeeting 3.0 Program Sharing:
? Sharing programs using True Color won't work between NetMeeting 3.0
and earlier versions.
? Desktop Sharing, Security, and Remote Desktop Sharing are not
compatible between NetMeeting 3.0 and earlier versions.
File Transfer - File Transfer does not work between NetMeeting 2.0 and
NetMeeting 3.0.
Chat - If you are using NetMeeting 3.0 and other people in the conference
are using earlier versions of NetMeeting, Chat does not automatically start.
If Chat is started by a NetMeeting 3.0 client before a call is established
with a NetMeeting 2.x node, user names will not appear next to the chat
messages and the number of users in the window title will be incorrect.
Hosted Meetings - Conference properties for Hosted Meetings is a new
NetMeeting 3.0 feature and can only be used with NetMeeting 3.0.
