Hi I wrote for any information regarding running NetMeeting over a DSL. I
have some more information and possibly and interesting observation when
using AOL over a DSL and then running NetMeeting.

I have found out that we are using a flowpoint 2200-12-C router that
supports NAT (excuse my ignorance, this is as deep as I never wanted to get
into TCP/IPX stuff so I am throughing terms out I have read in the previous
discussions and in the Flowpoint Manual), I will call their tech suport and
see it it supports the h.??? protocal for Netmeeting but it appears it
doesn't at this point.

But I did notice one thing and I have to try to repeat it soon to verify it
too. I run AOL over the DSL and I thought I would be SOL but OMG NM3 and
AOL and Media Ring (I don't know any initials for that yet) all worked over
the DSL if AOL was running first. Now, I personally believe pc-computers
are all crap (a large part due to the prevailing OS leader on PCs), so
until I have repeated this observation and perhaps someone here also
repeats it (thats how they do it in the big time scientific journals too)
it will remain an unsubstantiated claim on my part. If I can't repeat it I
will let you all know.

This is unusal because hardly any third party products works with AOL and
so far all the products that do have had to write a different version of
their programs in order to work over AOL. But whatever AOL is doing it is
allowing NetMeeting to function over our DSL and our Router (I am hazarding
a guess but AOL must set up some kind of point-to-point communications???).
And BTW, the person I am communicating with also has AOL running through a
standard dial up modem.

I don't know if this helps anyone, but it may provide a clue as to how to
get around some of the problems of receiving audio and video with NetMeeting.

BTW, Thanks for everyones input.
