Dear readers of the Discussionlist,

I have a question about the recording of audio. We (the Horizon College in Alkmaar, the Netherlands) are using Netmeeting in an educational project  to train communication skill of pupils of 16 till 20 years old. They talk in English and German to each other (and they see also the other person) from different parts of a schoolbuilding by means of this program. This program is installed on a internal network.

Our Language teachers should like to judge the skills of the pupils by recording the audio and listen to it. But we haven't found a possibility to record the sound. I have tried it with the program Hypercam, but then you get an AVI file. That means, that recording of a few minutes of a netmeeting session gives a very big file, e.g. 50 till 100 Mb. And the teachers are not interested in the pictures, they only want to record the sound.

We have also tried the programs Sound Recorder (from Windows) and Sounforge, but these programs only record the sounds of the headsets, if the persons aren not in a call (Netmeeting active, but not in a call). As soon as the pupils have a call, these programs give messages, that other programs are recording.

Have anyone an solution for this problem ? If there is a solution for this problem, then this will promote the use of the program Netmeeting in Language Classes.
