I am please to report that I have finally found a hardware firewall that is 100% Netmeeting compatible. In fact it even provides instructions on Netmeeting use in the manual. Since installing it I've had a dozen incoming Netmeeting calls, plus calls to our servers and everything worked perfectly. To test the security I left BlackIce running on the LAN computers. BlackIce reports virtually every intrusion and attack so if anything was making its way through the hardware firewall it should have seen it. Before installing the 100-S I was logging a dozen or more attacks an hour. After installing it, zero. In case you would like to try it out yourself, it is the Nortel (Baystack) Instant Internet Model 100-S. I paid $629.99 for it at TelekomNet (http://www.telekomnet.com). The salesman I dealt with was Bret (617-723-3360, Ext. 246). He was really a rare find, being both patient (I'm not what you would call network literate) and knowledgeable. A couple words of caution... the 100-S has a 12" x 17" footprint and a cooling fan that would put a wind tunnel to shame. No problem in your patch closet, but I wouldn't recommend it for your desk. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.meetingbywire.com/Mailinglist.htm for unsubscribe information -----------------------------------------------------------------------
