Hi Kent, NETMOD, I think that it is great that Kent is pushing to make progress with YANG Next. When this had been discussed previously, I suggested that it would be good to get some sort of consensus at to what YANG 2.0 should look like.
To that end, I have written a draft that effectively classifies the open issues into 4 buckets: 1. Issues that I think should go into YANG 2.0 2. Issues that we should potentially consider for YANG 2.0, but probably most of these wouldn't go in. 3. Issues that we should defer to a future version of YANG. I.e., these wouldn't be in YANG 2.0 4. Issues that we should just close, i.e., ones that we don't currently ever intend to implement. This is obviously a different classification that NETMOD has done previously, which was more around the complexity and importance of the issue rather than whether or not we should actively pursue it. >From my perspective it would be interesting to understand whether others think >the same or similar set of issues are the ones that we should tackle in the >next version of YANG. If you choose to take a look at the draft, then I would suggest that the HTML version is probably a lot more readable than that txt version. I think that this will probably be too late to discuss tomorrow at all - but it might be worth considering whether such a document might be useful working addition as this work progresses.
