Saverio,

thank you SO much for reading my post on my blog and leaving a comment. I'm
glad to read that you consider important my attempt to divulge; that was
_exactly_ my hope :-)

I have to ask you some more about the NetSuKuKu technology, but this is last
thing.

First I want you toknow WHAT I learned from this chitchat with you:

1) I didn't know that the common mesh network protocols identificate a
gateway, building a Spanning Tree (I imagine their gateway is the tree root)
while NetSuKuKu does NOT. This is the MOST important difference, to me.

2) I didn't know that Wireless Mesh Networks use standard IP protocol as
network layer. So, I could say they'e the equivalent of the ethernet ?

3) I didn't know that the TCP/IP is a different stack and it's NOT included
in the systems defined by the ISO/OSI stack.

4) I had not considered that the mesh networks require a single entity (a
company or a community) to be in charge of configuration

I hope this clarify. I have been generic because I have no idea of
> your technical background. I also left a comment on your blog.

Thanks again for recognizing my attempt.

But I'd have appreciate that instead of pointing me to
http://wiki.ninux.org(which I really like) ,
you would explain why you think I wrote something wrong.

I was trying to leverage the knowledge that the general audience gained
about p2p systems, such as BitTorrent, eMule and others.

So, I was depicting an analogy between those ones, that are on the
applicative level, and the idea behind NetSuKuKu, in wich every node is in
charge of its fraction of the routing.

Is this wrong ? I read it here: http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netsukuku

There are two sentences I quote from there:

In una rete di tipo peer-to-peer ogni nodo agisce da
router<http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Router>which means in a p2p
network every node acts as a router

AND

I nodi non hanno privilegi o limitazioni rispetto ad altri nodi, fanno parte
della rete e contribuiscono alla sua espansione ed efficienza, essendo tutti
uguali

which means nodes have no priveleges one among the other one, they are all
equal, they all are part of the net and contribute to its expansion and
efficiency.

I'll write about this also in a new comment on my blog replying to your one;
you know, my audience... ;-)

Also one more thing, I've been living in Tor Vergata up to December and I
didn't know about the Tuscolo mesh !! Ouch !!

Also I happened to read something about the friendship between some of you
and Emmanuele Bello, whom I met in Tor Vergata !

What an unfortunate coincidence ! I'd have lovet ot meet you there !

I hope to see you, anyhow
Bye
Catonano
