Hi Everybody! First of: it wasn't really my intention to raise a debate on whether or not Netsukuku needs funding, i just wanted to make sure two projects that could possibly benefit from each other didn't go without noticing each other. Good to hear that some of you already heard of the FreedomBox.
Then, in all honesty, i think i should reply to Luca's call to speak up. I guess in a way i am waiting for a right moment (or rather: opportunity) to get involved in Netsukuku. I'm just an intermediate php programmer, and haven't had the heart to look at the netsukuku code so far. I follow the newsletter as closely as i can, and i grab every chance to tell people about the beauty of a peer-to-peer network if "we" (ahum) could pull it off! I don't think i'd contribute much as a coder, maybe somewhat as a tester (although in getting a network up and running, i'd probably consume more of your guys valuable energy rather than contribute). The importance of this project is in my opinion grossly understated (you guys are too modest!!) For now, that's the only place where i can see myself contributing: spreading the word. If there's anything else, i'm open to suggestions. But yeah: I'm one of those on the sidelines "waiting for the right moment to get involved." One other aspect that might help maaaaybe just a little bit is encouraging the coders: Keep up the great work!! -bart- On Fri, Feb 18, 2011 at 8:17 PM, Niels Elburg <nwelb...@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi everyone, > > There's alternatives to this kickstarter buzz , like ChipIn > http://www.chipin.com/overview > > the advantage chipin has over kickstarter, from what i learned so far, is > that > 1) we don't compete with other projects (like movies etc) > 2) we can offer the chip-in button on the dyne pages > > obviously, its better to channel dyne visitors directly, as you'd have > a higher conversion rate > compared to kickstarter > > given the collection of people inside the network, we should be able > to apply for EU funding > but no-one knows how this works exactly, > > but a part from what mechanism you'd use to raise funding for a > project, a road-map would make a nice start > like Luca says .. but who, i'd say the most active person would be > best suited to sketch one up, then > we can edit stuff, keep it short and try to raise a small fund > > cheerio, > /Niels > > > On Fri, Feb 18, 2011 at 6:35 PM, Jaromil <jaro...@dyne.org> wrote: > > > > hi Luca, > > > > On Fri, 18 Feb 2011, Luca Dionisi wrote: > > > >> It is the first time I ever read of someone searching for the right > moment > >> to get involved in netsukuku.
