Just a suggestion to the Netsukuku community. Have you guys considered
using OpenFlow? It is quickly becoming the standard and paves the way for
Software Defined Protocols. It's extremely flexible and powerful. There's
an OpenWRT image that comes with OpenFlow. Ntk could be completely
rewritten as an OpenFlow controller in no time. You could even use Beacon
and write the protocol in Java, and actually deploy it on the switch
itself. So much easier to build, debug and simulate, and requires no deep
understanding of Linux kernel internals. It is also possible to port it
later into something that can be deployed on Gigabit optical switches that
support OpenFlow controllers and have it run on FPGA-based hardware,
bypassing software emulation and achieving line-rate speeds. If you do, I
may be able to help since OpenLibernet shares a lot with Ntk in terms of
topology discovery and establishment and there will be lots of reusable
modules in common. Let me know what you think!
