Another good thing to do in preparation for GSoC would be to get on the IRC channel (if you haven't already) to talk and listen with the devs. IMO one of the best things about the NetSurf project (especially concerning GSoC) is how active and helpful their channel is. Its a great resource for any development questions you have and you can learn quite a bit just from listening. It also gives the devs a chance to get to know you before the application process.
