In 2010, during the mass stranding due to the Icelandic volcano, Andrew Losowsky put out an online call for contributors to a project which ended up taking the form of the POD magazine Stranded (http://www.magcloud.com/browse/Issue/110588).
I was one of the contributors, stranded as I was in Tokyo at the time. I heard about the project via a friend in Australia. All activity up to and including publication was co-ordinated via social media. All profits went to the International Rescue Committee charity.
