Dear Nettime List,
building up to our first conference of 2025, Shadows of Illiberalism:
Resisting the Radical Right, I would like to invite you to join
Disruption Network Lab tomorrow, on Thursday 3 April for a community
meetup, focused around the topic of "Illiberal Realities: Understanding
Propaganda and the Orbánisation of Europe".
https://www.disruptionlab.org/event/illiberal-realities
We will also record the talk and it will be available on our website
after the event for the larger audience that is not Berlin-based.
We will hear from our guests, Péter Adamik and Sára Szedlár from the
Freie Ungarische Botschaft https://freieungarischebotschaft.de/en/ (Free
Hungarian Embassy), a spontaneously organised group of
Hungarian-European citizens living in Berlin, with a mission for the
creation of a solidarity society in Hungary from abroad.
Viktor Orbán’s autocracy learning-lab is often being referred to as a
role model for other leaders and parties of the far right-populist
scene, like the AfD. Adamik and Szedlár will give an overview of how the
Orbán government has built up its power machinery, reconstructing,
translating, and contextualizing propaganda billboards from Hungarian
streets. Is there a way out of such a system? What are the chances that
the 2026 parliamentary elections would change something in Hungary – and
for its European alliances?
Thursday, 3. April, 2025
19:00-21:00
nGbK, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 11, 10178 Berlin
The meetup is free to attend, but please register at the link below so
that your seat is secured!
