The number 48% (below) is interesting (and would ask that the postings
during the time be re-presented. From the get go 48% tells you that over
half of the people did not want to pay, or were being straight forward in
saying realistically they could not pay. Also if only, 48% said they would
pay, people being the way they are, it would seem that when it came down to
shelling out money it would be significantly less than that. In my view
hibernation and honor would have been a better path than to drag Rhizome and
the users throw this protractive discussion of opposing points leading to a
further unkind decline to noble spirit Rhizome seemed to be about. With all
of this discussion even that is coming under question, as well as motives. I
am beginning to wonder if I saw Rhizome for more that it actually was.

I don't know if any of you has noticed that net art recently came up to a
major halt since it has been obvious that the Art Market was unable to make
profits from it.

I don't think Rhizome has so many possibilities to raise money from private
Institution for an art site that don't produce money itself, (see above).
We -alas!- don't live in Wonderland and at the end of the month a rent must
be paid to the owner's office -at least.
They had to decide (very quickly): either charge a fee, either shut down
Rhizome.

To make this long story short: if talking about rents to pay sound petty or
too simplistic, superficial, well.. It means I (and so Mark Tribe) am not
one of you tres chic intellectual that live off your family inherit or
whatever and have the privilege of working full day without bothering about
the pas tres chic everyday reality.

That's all folks!
