After I installed WinXP/SP2 onto an Asus M2N Delux machine (with nVidia 570 chipset, including two MCP55 NICs) & rebooted back to SX44, the NIC immediately stopped working. The same problem happend to SuSE 10.0 & 10.1.
However, WinXP/SP2 does not affect Fedora Core 6. In fact, after I booted into FC6, the NIC in both SX44 and SuSE worked again. To me this is pretty weird. Apparently WinXP/SP2 did something the the NIC hardward, FC6 was able to rehabitate it, but not Solaris and SuSE. Can anyone give me some hints as to where I should/could start looking into this problem? Thanks.
