Hi Guys,
When someone asked me whether we need do zone testing for NIC driver, I
found need a good understanding of how drivers work with regards to
zones. Does anybody can explain it to me?
IMO, at driver side, we don't have some specific code for zone support.
On the other hand, at zone side, it's a hardware independent subsystem,
a locale zone NIC interface is the form of "physical-unit:logical-unit"
from the global zone perspective. Therefore, the code paths of driver
between in local zone and in global zone are no difference.
My conclusion is, we just need test NIC interface can be work properly
with "physical-unit:logical-unit" form in a global zone.
It's just my understanding, any comments are welcome, and I really need
your helps. Thanks!
