Hi all,
I am trying to make the net work using Solaris. Here is the result ( and the
question ) so far :
- Solaris 10 Update 2 : simply crashes early at boot time
- Solaris Express 11/06 ( nv_b50 ) : no problem
- Solaris 10 Update 3 : doesn't crash anymore but network not ok.
In Nevada, my card is recognized by the rge Realtek Gigabit Ethernet Driver
version 1.3.
In S10U3, this doesn't happen. I first tried to simply copy the rge driver from Nevada to S10U3 but it appears that it has some dependencies so that obviously doesn't work.
Then I saw that another name was given to my rge nic in Nevada ( namely, pci1025,107 ). I tried to use
....add_drv -i '"pci1025,107"' rge.... to tell Solaris to use rge for such device name. Then
"modload" to load the module. Works with a warning : "Unsupported high-level interrupt".
But devfsadm -i rge says that the driver was not attached...
This network card is in my new Acer Aspire 9420. So :
1. Is there a way to make this card work in S10U3 with the current rge driver ?
2. May I ( and how do I ) install the newest rge driver on S10U3 ?
The latest rge driver was not in S10 by now, and it also has the
dependency with latest Nevada kernel. You have to wait it backport to s10.
