If I "turn off" IPv4, will something fundamental break?

Was asked today how to transition from an environment that is running IPv4 and IPv6 to only IPv6. At
first glance, I would think that as long as all the applications support IPv6, it should be possibly
to just restart (maybe reboot) with only IPv6 enabled. But am I missing something?
