The code starting in aggr_port.c starting at line 254 clearly only
decides to attach a link if it is full-duplex rather than
!unknown-duplex. I guess this is the intention but I just wanted to
check whether it was an oversight as I don't have a copy of 802.3ad to
hand.

It's not an oversight. That check is needed for compliance with IEEE
802.3ad.
