I am new to solaris operating systems. I managed to install Solaris
10 on my X86 machine, but I am unable to surf the internet, The NIC works
perfect , when I typed
# ifconfig -a in the command prompt it returns the flags=100843<UP...> etc.

My x86 machine is attached to router with the IP address 192.168.1.1
then I statically assigned the NIC card with 192.168.1.7 address with
subnet mast 255.255.255.0. My router is my DHCP server.

among other things, you need to tell how your router is connected to the "outside", and what you have tested and what the results were.

If you're completely new to Solaris Administration, I'd suggest you take a look at the excellent courses Sun's education people offer (http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/operating_systems/index.xml). I don't think a mailing list is an appropriate or efficient medium for that in the long run.

I donot plan to setup NIS+ or DNS or DHCP with this computer, Is
there anyway that I can get connected to the internet.?

I believe so :-)

Can anyway guide me how to fix this problem.?
remember I am new to SOLARIS OS.

well - see above ;-)

oh, btw: Solaris 10 is NOT OpenSolaris; please consider going through proper channels, this one is for opensolaris issues.
