Hello, I have a 16 E1 trunks to RTP media gateway connected directly to a Solaris T2000 machine (aka. crossover). I am wondering what is the maximum PPS that I can achieve with this machine because I suspect a lot of packet drops. The media gateway gives me a flux of: 16 trunks x 31 timeslots x 50 times per second = 24 800 PPS (packets per second) at a bit rate of roughly 64Mbps that seems quite low compared with the performance of the gigabit ethernet.
On the Solaris box there 8 processes that are listening to the incoming packets each of them having one RT thread that is responsible for receiving packets and doing the inband DTMF decoding. Is there any data regarding these figures? I just want to check if the packet drop comes from the DTMF detection or from a limitation in the IP stack.
