Just a note on this. I don't think there is such a goal.
In fact, we know that TCP MD5 has very limited use. And
the TCPM WG is working on another proposal for TCP level
authentication currently. IMHO, the only reason for TCP
MD5 is that people right now are using it for BGP. So to
make Solaris a viable platform for BGP, it is needed. This
is its only purpose AFAIK.
