I'm also experiencing issues with onboard e1000 interfaces. e1000g0 is down after install or liove upgrade, I also niticed that the fault manager smf service is in maintenance.
My problem seems to be related to OPMA remote management card (raritan M3G4). After removing this card I don't see this issue. I didn't tried yet to force linkspeed, I will try to see if it fix my problem as well. I don't know if you have any mangement card is your server but maybe it's related ...
