Folks, I am proposing a project called Integrated Load Balancer (ILB) to provide basic Layer 3/4 load balancing features in Solaris consisting of DSR and NAT operation modes.
The feature components of the project will be as follows: o Direct Server Return(DSR) operation mode o NAT based operation mode (half-NAT and full-NAT). We will use IP Filter's NAT implementation for this purpose o VRRP to provide HA between loadbalancers o A commandline interface that will be used to configure both NAT and DSR operation modes. The interface will be made available for 3rd party apps to consume o Simple L3/L4 server health checks that allows the load balancer to monitor the back-end servers The provision of such a feature will allow a SPARC or x86 box running Solaris to serve as a mid-range L3/L4 loadbalancer. I am requesting endorsement for this project. Sangeeta _______________________________________________ networking-discuss mailing list [email protected]
