I think you've found the problem in that log:
#/sbin/dlmgmtd -d
ld.so.1: dlmgmtd: fatal: /lib/libavl.so.1: Permission denied
ld.so.1: dlmgmtd: fatal: relocation error: file /sbin/dlmgmtd: symbol
avl_create: referenced symbol not found
Something is terribly wrong with this system.
If this is an OpenSolaris system, then try this:
$ pfexec pkg verify SUNWcsl
If it's Solaris Express:
# pkgchk SUNWcslr
(And for the latter ignore the error about /lib/libc.so.1 ... that's
just the annoying lofs mount trick getting in the way of a good
packaging experience. ;-})
