No.  ifconfig (the tool that sets those parameters) will automatically
start in.mpathd if needed, based on the parameters set.

I agree; it should be under SMF.  It's one of a class of on-demand
services (like dhcpagent) that are currently not well served by SMF.
The discussion on this back in April led to CR 6696281.

I'm not sure I follow ... but in.mpathd is already automatically
managed, so there shouldn't be any need for special code here.
