Hi,

2 weeks ago I patched all servers to S10U5 because of no problems on the
test-servers. However after the upgrade the nscd behavior of 2 machines
(both in a different, unrelated network and NIS+ domain) seems to be buggy:

After boot, no NIS+ user is able to login anymore.

If one disables svc:/system/name-service-cache:default or 'pkill nscd'
aka/or explicitly restarts svc:/system/name-service-cache:default
everything runs as expected (i.e. like before the patch install).

This week I also re-jumpstarted a bunch of desktops with snv b98 and there
I've the same strange behavior on 2 machines, all other (~ 20) machines
are running fine.

Already opened a case for S10U5 (38168977 osc-emea 2008-09-16) but since
the problem occures on b98 as well, I think this is a better place
to tackle the cause of that strangness ...

Any hints?

Regards,
jel.

PS: b95 (desktops) and S10U3 + latest patches (servers) before U4 patches
started to come in (~ 11-2007) were the last ones, I had installed and
        no nscd problems
