I'm using opensolaris 101b under vmware 5.5, with a host OS of winXP.
I'm getting horrible network performance using the vmxnet driver version 5.5.8 build 108000, and the performance seems to fluctuate quite a bit. This came to light as I was trying to use solaris to access and server up CIFS filesystems. My benchmark that I have trying to use is: . Mount a volume on from the host OS (mount -F smbfs) . Try to write a file to the host os (cat /dev/zero > x.out). I get sometimes a large burst (16 mb/sec), and sometimes a trickle with occasional bursts but it almost always peters out after a bit. On the flip side I've tried sharing volumes from Solaris and then reading from either XP or vista machines and I may get some (large files), but eventually I get "network device not available". Any ideas how to remedy this or troubleshoot? Thanks, Karl
