This use of a separate filesystem is cool, but I have a question: why is /var the right place for this stuff? I'm coming from Linux and FreeBSD where something you want to be persistent would go under /usr/local, but I see my OpenSolaris doesn't have such a thing by default. I just want to be consistent with the platform standards.
