An idea/observation, just for idle consideration by whomever may be interested... might it be suitable to emit a advisory CE_NOTE or CE_CONT in drivers who formerly had their jumbo frame features activated by a driver.conf incantation?

Something like

"modname/instance: Legacy jumbo frame configuration not supported. See dladm(1m)"

Having the deprecated driver.conf parameters be silently ignored, a action that I'm sure has plenty of precedent, could bite the unsuspecting admin down the road when they upgrade any jumbo-dependent servers from Solaris <whatever> to Solaris Next... at least from a performance standpoint.

I wouldn't normally suggest something like this, but the use of jumbo frames in Solaris is pretty widespread these days to perhaps warrant it. Any existing references to driver.conf parameters in a driver's own man page could stand some consideration, too... being redacted or replaced with a pointer to dladm.

Hi I just upgraded to snv_118 and I can't get jumbo frames working anymore.
It was working under snv_111b
I've got accept_jumbo = 1; in /kernel/drv/nxge.conf

I noticed in the default nxge.conf, the comments for jumbo frames have been removed.

I upgraded to snv_121 and it doesn't work there either.

Anyone know how to get jumbo frames working again?

We've standardized on dladm for enabling jumbograms. Try:

 dladm set-linkprop -p mtu=9000 nxge0
