I have one review comment -
In Section 4, it says
"No code fastpaths, since the implied code duplication is a large
maintenance burden."
This may help or hurt performance! Recommend adding
a goal/requirement that this will be done without any
performance regression as measured by applicable benchmarks
like netperf, and SPECweb etc.
