Does anyone know if it is possible to run the Sun 10GbE NIC using a MMF SR optical at 1GbE link speed? Is there some signaling issue between the 10GbE Optical on the card and the 1GbE optical in the switch that prevent this? The docs say that the nxge driver is a 10000/1000/100/10 driver, but I don't think that indicates that the 10GbE MMF NIC optic is compatible with a 1GbE MMF switch optic.
